Distrustful Brothers 2.0
On the relationship of quantitative history and "digital" history
par Manfred Thaller (professeur émérite | emeritus professor Université de Cologne)
Quantitative methods have been used in historical research since a very long time and this implied the usage of computers for decades.
The supporters of quantitative methods, however, have been looking quite distrustfully upon non-quantitative usages of computers almost as long. And been looked upon with less than perfect trust themselves by non quantitative historians. The lecture looks upon the reasons for this complex relationships and tries to identify a common ground underneath both.
